About Roderick Bartolo

Risk Executive & Transformation Leader

Banking & Risk

Roderick Bartolo's career in risk began at a European bank, where he led quantitative development specialising in Asset Liability Management (ALM), balance sheet optimisation, and financial modelling. He built models for stress testing, ICAAP/ILAAP, credit risk, market risk, and liquidity risk — working at the intersection of regulation, mathematics, and technology.

This gave him a deep understanding of how balance sheets behave under pressure and how to model uncertainty in complex financial systems. His work spanned regulatory capital planning, interest rate risk management, and the development of quantitative frameworks that informed strategic decision-making at the board level. He was also involved in several M&A deals and capital raising initiatives during this period, contributing financial modelling and due diligence from the risk and quantitative side.

AI & Data at Scale

He went on to lead data science teams applying machine learning in highly regulated, real-time environments — building automated decision systems, scalable data pipelines, and risk engines processing millions of events. His engineering background in embedded systems and algorithmic trading gave him an edge in building systems that are not just analytically sound but operationally robust.

He also engineered risk systems for an automated trading operation, bridging quantitative finance and software engineering. This combination of deep technical expertise with financial domain knowledge is central to his approach.

Transformation & Organisation Building

Roderick has built multiple AI-native, data-driven organisations from the ground up — several now market leaders in their sectors. He has delivered national-scale digital transformation projects as a consultant and team lead at a global technology company, modernising legacy systems and building data platforms at scale.

He is known for building, leading, and scaling large multidisciplinary teams across banking, technology, and consulting. He now serves as a consultant and Non-Executive Director across several companies, providing strategic guidance on risk, technology, data, and organisational transformation.
